Matt has a diverse litigation practice, teaming with other GDHM lawyers to represent both defendants and plaintiffs in federal and state courts, as well as in arbitration. Matt’s experience covers a variety of subject areas including: complex business disputes (ranging from breach of contract to fraud to fiduciary duty disputes), intellectual property disputes, and legal malpractice defense.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE

Matt has worked for many of the firm’s clients, including:

  • An Austin-based company’s founder, president, and shareholder representative in a federal court lawsuit and arbitration involving disputed entitlement to funds in escrow and allegations of fraud asserted by the Fortune 500 company that acquired his company.
  • A real estate investment partnership in federal court in a dispute with a lending institution over a disputed prepayment penalty in connection with a promissory note.
  • A patent holder in a federal court lawsuit seeking damages for patent and trade dress infringement and for unfair competition and tortious interference with contract from a business competitor.
  • A major telecommunications carrier in federal and state lawsuits.
  • A major Texas-based workers’ compensation carrier in state administrative proceedings and state court lawsuits, in which the validity and interpretation of statutory and regulatory provisions was at issue.
  • Lawyers and law firms sued for legal malpractice in Texas state court.
