Raising the Roof

A group of GDHM attorneys and staff worked alongside other volunteers on the Austin Habitat for Humanity Legal Build. The Austin Legal Community comes together every two years, coordinated by the Austin Bar Association, to raise the roof on a new affordable Austin Habitat home through the Legal Build.
GDHM litigation attorney, Chris Elliott, pictured here with firm Executive Director James Cornell, serves on the board of Austin Habitat for Humanity and enjoyed being a part of the hands-on work of Habitat. Chris says, "I was so proud of the GDHM work team that helped with Austin Habitat for Humanity’s Legal Build. They gave up a Saturday for a great cause – helping build a house for a family that would otherwise be unable to afford to live in their own home. It was a fun and gratifying day and brought together two organizations that I love – Graves Dougherty and Austin Habitat for Humanity. What could be better?"
Mary-Wommack Barton, a Corporate attorney at GDHM, quickly stepped up to be part of the roofing crew and spent the day performing the demanding job of securing shingles.
