Diversity Statement
Graves, Dougherty, Hearon & Moody is committed to maintaining a workforce that reflects the rich cultural and ethnic diversity of our community. We believe diversity fosters a positive and creative environment that attracts talented individuals, encourages lawyers and staff to maximize their potential and enhances the firm’s ability to respond quickly with innovative solutions to the rapidly changing needs of our clients. We are proud to have assembled a team of lawyers and staff with diverse and accomplished backgrounds.
Graves Dougherty is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to recruiting and promoting the most qualified candidates and employees without regard to age, race, religion, sex, marital status, national origin, disability or sexual orientation.
Graves Dougherty’s Diversity Committee, comprised of minority and non-minority lawyers, assists the Recruiting Committee and Human Resources Manager in identifying and recruiting qualified candidates for attorney positions. The Diversity Committee also helps the firm with policies and programs to foster the firm’s diversity initiatives.
Recognizing that recruitment is only one part of the effort to maintain a diverse workforce, Graves Dougherty also undertakes focused efforts to ensure that all Graves Dougherty lawyers are provided full access to enriching personal and professional opportunities. We ensure that our younger lawyers receive appropriate work assignments, one-on-one mentoring and client contact opportunities that ultimately will allow them to rise to positions of substantial responsibility with clients, within the firm and within the community. We encourage all of our lawyers to become and remain active in firm management activities. Minority and/or women lawyers at Graves Dougherty currently serve on the firm’s Board of Directors and the Compensation, Practice Management, Technology, Pro Bono, Recruiting and Diversity Committees of the firm.
