Future of Energy Sources (April, 2007)
Guest speakers Mark Dreyfus, Bob King and John Fainter lead a discussion focused on the future of energy resources in Texas.
Bob Kahn is Deputy General Manager for Administrative and Legal Services at Austin Energy. Bob is one of the leads for Austin Energy generation planning and for three years represented Texas Public Power utilities on the ERCOT Board of Directors, and therefore is familiar with the generation outlook not only for Austin Energy but for the state of Texas in general.
Robert J. King, President of Good Company Associates, provides legislative, regulatory and business development consulting to energy service providers, renewable energy companies and related product manufacturers or suppliers. He has represented such organizations as the National Association of Energy Service Companies, the Texas Propane Gas Association, the Texas Energy Services Coalition and the Renewable Power Coalition. He has led campaigns to establish utility energy efficiency programs and to establish a renewable energy portfolio standard for the state of Texas. Prior to joining the private sector, King held such positions as Director of Renewable Energy Programs for the Tennessee Valley Authority and Energy Policy Advisor to the Texas Chairman of the Railroad Commission, Lt. Governor and Governor.
John W. Fainter, Jr. is President and CEO of the Association of Electric Companies of Texas (AECT)—a trade organization providing a forum for electric companies in Texas to exchange information about public policy and to communicate with government officials and the public. Fainter has a long history of service to the state of Texas. Among other positions, he has served as First Assistant Attorney General of Texas, Secretary of State for the State of Texas and Chief of Staff for Governor Ann Richards.
